DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?

  • Your Dog lunges, barks, or reacts to other Dogs on the lead

  • They have endless energy no matter how much you walk them

  • You don't trust them off the lead in public

  • They're a rescue and the world feels overwhelming to them

  • You've tried puppy school but it didn't stick

  • You feel embarrassed or stressed taking them out in public

  • You know something's off but you don't know where to start

If you nodded at any of these, you're in the right place.

WHAT MAKES THIS DIFFERENT?

Most Dog training focuses on commands — sit, stay, heel. At Gypsea Tails, we go deeper. We work with your Dog's nervous system, emotional state, and social awareness to address the root cause of their behaviour, not just the symptom.

Our approach is built on Dog Somatics — understanding how a Dog's nervous system affects everything from hyperactivity and reactivity to anxiety and poor social skills. We believe in positive reinforcement & relationship-based approaches & focus on helping Dogs feel safe, supported, & understood. When a Dog feels regulated and safe, behaviour naturally improves and learning becomes possible.

We support you in building a strong bond with your Dog — one rooted in trust, consistency, & understanding — because meaningful outcomes naturally follow connection, not control.

This isn’t a quick chat. It’s a thoughtful, in-person session where we take the time to truly understand your Dog — how they move through the world, how they communicate, how they respond to different situations, & what their nervous system may be telling us.

What happens in your session:

  • Hour 1 — You & Taz: We walk in nature with your Dog together & you tell me everything. What you're seeing, what you've tried, what worries you most.
    No judgement, just listening.

  • Hour 2 — Taz & Your Dog: We work one-on-one with your Dog, introducing them to different environments, situations, & other calm, non- reactive Dogs to observe their responses & social awareness.

  • Hour 3 — Observations & Report: We compile the findings & walk you through what we have identified — behavioural patterns, nervous system signals, social gaps, & what your Dog actually needs. You’ll receive a written summary of my findings and recommendations within 7 days.

** Within 7 days, you’ll receive a personalised written summary outlining our observations & recommendations. From there, we’ll guide you toward the next step that best supports your Dog — whether that’s joining our Tribe Adventures or continuing with one of our 6 or 12 week one-on-one support programs

HOW IT WORKS

why is dog socialisation & training soo important?

Improves behaviour

Dogs that aren’t properly socialised may become anxious, fearful, or reactive in unfamiliar situations. Proper socialisation helps them learn appropriate behaviours & how to react calmly to new people, environments, & other Dogs.

Builds confidence

By exposing Dogs to different situations, people, & other Dogs in a controlled way, they learn to navigate the world with confidence. This makes them more adaptable & less likely to become stressed or fearful in new experiences.

prevents aggression

Without socialisation, Dogs CAN feel threatened by new experiences or other animals, leading to defensive or aggressive behaviours. A well socialised Dog learns to trust others, reducing the risk of fear-based aggression.

YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

  • Most trainers focus on commands and obedience. We work holistically — looking at your Dog's nervous system, emotional regulation, social awareness, and environment. We address why your Dog behaves the way they do, not just what they're doing.

  • Absolutely. Puppy school is a great start, but it often happens in an overwhelming environment with lots of unfamiliar Dogs and distractions. Many Dogs, especially reactive, anxious, or under-socialised ones need a more tailored approach.

  • You'll receive your written Training Report with clear recommendations. If ongoing one-on-one work would benefit your Dog, I'll outline what that looks like. There's no pressure, the report is valuable on its own.

  • Yes, and it's some of the most rewarding work I do. Rescue Dogs often come with gaps in their early socialisation and can take a little longer to build trust but the transformation is remarkable.

  • In and around Margaret River. The assessment takes place at a location suitable for observing your Dog in different environments.
