EVERY STEP MATTERS
A movement bringing together Dogs, humans, nature, movement, mental health, education & meaningful action.
This isn’t your average walking challenge. There is no starting line, no perfect pace & no one telling you what movement should look like. Throughout October & November, we’re inviting people everywhere to take meaningful steps for their own wellbeing, for their Dogs & towards better outcomes for animals.
Head into nature. Wander along the beach. Explore a new trail. Take your Dog somewhere they can sniff, explore & simply be a Dog. Move your body, clear your head & give both nervous systems some breathing room.
If motivation feels hard, ask someone to walk with you. Share the challenge with a friend who may also need a reason to step outside. Choose a goal that feels achievable, find your reason & begin wherever you are.
But Steps for Animals is about more than the steps recorded on a watch. Every meeting is a step. Every conversation is a step. Every questionnaire response is a step. Every person who learns something new about their Dog is a step. Every connection between Dog guardians, government, rangers, the Shire, rescues & qualified professionals is a step towards meaningful change.

STRAIGHT FROM TAZ:
WHY I NEED YOU IN ON THIS
This November, Gypsea Tails turns five. Over those years, I’ve worked with thousands of Dogs & their humans, continued learning & seen just how often support only arrives once an animal or family is already in crisis.
Rescuing Socks from the street & welcoming senior rescue Dog Zeus into our family changed something in me. Zeus’s ongoing medical & behavioural care showed me how much love, time, knowledge & money rescue can require and how little practical support exists for people trying to do the right thing.
I want to help change what happens before crisis point through education, prevention, affordable support, honest conversations & greater accountability. I’ve started the conversations. I’m building the connections. But I can’t create meaningful change alone.
I need a community without borders - people who feel this too & want to help us build something better for Animals & the humans caring for them.

Animals Matter is something Taz is building behind the scenes, bringing together animal welfare, education, prevention, advocacy & community connection.
There are conversations happening. Ideas growing. People connecting & some very exciting things beginning to take shape.
We aren't going to rush it.
We want to build it properly. For now, Steps for Animals is helping us take the next practical steps: supporting Zeus’s ongoing care, and beginning to create accessible community education & workshops. October is just the beginning.
