DOG TRAINING

Our Training Programs (How We Support You & Your Dog)

We don’t offer traditional Dog training — instead, we focus on setting Dogs & their humans up for lasting success by addressing what sits underneath behaviour: the nervous system, the relationship, & trust.

Our work begins with meeting your Dog & understanding their world. We take the time to observe behaviour, emotional state, environment, & history before creating a tailored, detailed program designed specifically for your Dog & your lifestyle. These programs provide clear direction, practical guidance, & realistic steps for you to follow at home.

Our primary focus is nervous system recovery & regulation. When a Dog feels safe & settled in their body, learning becomes possible. We support you in building a strong bond with your Dog — one rooted in trust, consistency, & understanding — because meaningful outcomes naturally follow connection, not control.

Once your program is complete, you’re given the tools & knowledge to put it into practice. From there, we recommend working alongside a qualified Dog trainer to maintain & reinforce the training aspects, with your Dog now in a calmer, more receptive state.

  • Our Dog Training Program is a personalised, Dog-led plan created after we’ve truly gotten to know you & your Dog.

Following an in-depth 3-hour consult, where we work through your questionnaire, observe your Dog’s energy, temperament, & environment, we design a detailed program tailored specifically to your Dog’s needs.

This program includes a 45-minute Dog Somatic Therapy session, supporting nervous system regulation & helping your Dog feel calm, settled, & ready to learn.

From there, we provide you with clear guidance & practical tools to move forward with confidence & continue your training journey with aligned, relationship-based trainers.

  • What is Positive Reinforcement?

Positive reinforcement is a training approach that rewards desired behaviours instead of punishing unwanted ones. This could be through treats, praise, toys, or play, depending on what motivates your Dog.

By focusing on rewards, Dogs learn what behaviours are expected of them, building confidence & reducing stress.

This method strengthens the bond between you and your Dog, encourages engagement, and supports emotional wellbeing — creating a Dog who is excited to learn, eager to please, & confident in new situations.

  • This 3-hour consultation is a personalised session with you & your Dog, designed to give us a deep understanding of your Dog’s energy, temperament, & unique needs.

During this time, we work through your completed questionnaire, observe your Dog in a safe & supportive environment, and get a clear picture of their emotional & behavioural state.

This session is not a training lesson — it’s the foundation for creating a tailored Dog Training Program.

It allows us to provide you with thoughtful guidance & practical tools, while also including insights into Dog Somatic Therapy & nervous system support to set your Dog up for calm, confident learning in the future.

  • What is Balanced Dog Training?

Balanced Dog training combines positive reinforcement with clear, fair boundaries to guide Dogs toward desired behaviours. It’s about using rewards to encourage good choices while setting consistent limits, helping Dogs understand expectations without fear or confusion.

This approach supports confidence, trust, & clear communication, creating well-behaved Dogs who are happy, engaged, & emotionally balanced.

Our Training Philosophy

Our work is grounded in positive reinforcement & relationship-based approaches. We move away from old-school, control-focused methods & instead focus on helping Dogs feel safe, supported, & understood.

Our role is to set you and your Dog up with the right foundation. We provide clients with the tools, understanding, & guidance needed to support their Dog’s nervous system, strengthen the human–Dog bond, & create clarity around training goals. From there, we encourage clients to continue working with qualified trainers who share the same values— trainers who also prioritise positive reinforcement, relationship-based training, & emotional wellbeing.

When Dogs feel secure & connected, learning comes naturally. By starting with trust & regulation, we help ensure that any ongoing training is effective, ethical, & long-lasting.

the three main training approaches we focus on

  • What is Relationship-Based Training?

Relationship-based training focuses on building trust, understanding, & connection between you and your Dog. Rather than relying on force or control, it prioritises clear communication, consistency, and emotional safety, helping your Dog feel confident, secure, & motivated to learn.

By strengthening your bond, this approach encourages cooperation, engagement, & lasting behavioural change, creating a happy Dog who wants to work with you — not for you.

Our role is to guide, support, & empower — so both you and your Dog can move forward with clarity, confidence, & calm.

The FIRST SETP - THE nervous system: the command center of your dog’s behavioUr.

We start with the nervous system. Your Dog’s behaviour is guided by how safe they feel — every sound, smell, & sight is filtered through this lens. When Dogs feel secure, they’re ready to connect, play, & learn. When they feel unsafe, their system goes into survival mode. That’s why we focus on regulating & supporting the nervous system first, so training comes from a place of calm, confidence, and understanding — not stress or fear.

Behavioural training is all about setting Dogs up for success—building good habits, preventing unwanted ones, and teaching them how to interact confidently with both humans and other Dogs.

The most important thing to remember with any type of training is to ensure all commands are gentle and clear, that they are repeated often, and that good behaviour is quickly rewarded.
